Welcome to WASAC

WASAC ensures that all participants have the necessary "tools" required for active participation. These "tools" remove the barriers that hinder participation and will have an impact on Aboriginal people's quality of life.  We invite you to take the time to look at some of the programs offered by WASAC that might be of interest to you!

Lil' Moose Programs

WASACs proud to have been a part of the Lil' Moose Program with the students of Donwood Elementary School and Chief Peguis Junior High School. We would like to thank the Manitoba Moose Yearling Foundation And the River East Transcona School Division for their partnership in this great program. 45 students from both schools were all part of the groundbreaking initiative. Students were each given their own set of equipment that they were allowed to keep after the program is over. Over 18 pratices, the students were given different lessons in hockey. Each practice included transportation to and from the arena, a healthy nutritious lunch for the students and an hour of ice time where the students were given professional hockey instruction. The students each had the chance to attend a Manitoba Moose game and participate in a program ending game with another school. WASAC thanks all students, partners and staff for all of the hard work that made this program possible

WASAC Staff & Role Models

The WASAC staff and recreation leaders are composed of talented and energetic young Aboriginal men and women with a wide range of skills and experience including hockey players, pow-wow dancers, fiddlers, square dancers, scholars and national track and field athletes. These leaders are instrumental to the success of the WASAC programs as they are regarded as the inspirational role models to the Aboriginal children and youth attending our programs.  We rely on the unique abilities each leader possesses to create a solid foundation for success.
